OUMA was created from an appreciation for well-made, thoughtfully designed objects. Products created from the highest quality natural, plant-based ingredients, and guided by a respect for craft and simplicity.
We favor refined design, honest materials, and a pace of working that allows quality to lead.
Our soap bar recipes are founded on a balanced blend of olive oil, babassu oil, shea butter, and cocoa butter. Together they create a gentle, solid bar that cleanses effectively without stripping the skin.
We choose babassu oil over the more common coconut oil for its lighter feel, milder cleansing action, and perhaps most importantly, more ethical sourcing. The result is a gentle, creamy, stable lather suitable for everyday use.
Every OUMA bar is hand made in small batches in our workshop in the Netherlands. The bars are cured for six weeks, a slow process that optimizes hardness, longevity, and lather. Our porcelain soap dishes too, are each made by hand in the Netherlands, and designed to extend the life of the bar, with its deep ridges allowing the soap to dry evenly between uses.
Our work is rooted in the idea that even the simplest rituals are the most beautiful moments when they’re approached from presence and intention.
